PandaDoc alternative for crypto deal documents

By Cryptool|September 7, 2026|Product

PandaDoc is often filed under e-signature, but that undersells it and also explains why teams outgrow the fit in the other direction. It is a document workflow platform: proposals, quotes, pricing tables, approval routing, and payment collection, with signing as the final step. Crypto teams that try it usually discover they are buying a sales document engine in order to send a SAFT. DocSign is a free, encrypted alternative focused on the signing itself, and it comes with your Cryptool account.

What PandaDoc does well

For a sales team, PandaDoc is excellent and this post is not an argument against it. The template and content library genuinely saves time, the pricing tables and quote logic are strong, approval workflows are properly built rather than bolted on, and the analytics showing how long a prospect spent on each page of a proposal are useful in a way most vendors only claim to be. If you are sending commercial proposals at volume, that is the tool.

Where the fit breaks down for a token deal

A SAFT is not a proposal. There is no quote to configure, no pricing table to build, no upsell path, and the terms were settled by lawyers before the document existed. What you need is narrow: place the fields, route it to the right signers in the right order, prove afterwards that nothing changed, and keep the contents private. Most of PandaDoc's value sits in the parts of the workflow a token deal does not have, while the price still reflects the whole platform.

Privacy is the second point. Deal documents in PandaDoc are stored in a form the vendor can read, which is normal for the industry and fine for a sales proposal. A cap table side letter is a different category of document.

What DocSign does differently

It is free with a Cryptool account, with no per-seat and no per-envelope charge.

Documents can be encrypted in your browser before upload, with the key wrapped to your account key so the server never holds plaintext. The trade-off to know: an encrypted document cannot be shared with workspace members, because only the uploader holds the key.

Sovereign mode keeps the PDF on your device entirely. Only a fingerprint is stored, and the signed copy is emailed rather than retained.

Templates with signer roles cover the repeatable part that actually applies. If every advisor agreement has the same three fields and the same two roles, you build it once.

A hash-chain audit trail makes the record tamper-evident, and a certificate page is appended to the finished PDF.

Requests come from your own mailbox, through your workspace's connected Gmail or Outlook, so signature requests arrive from your address.

Choosing between them

If your documents are proposals and quotes, and the signature is the last step of a sales motion, use PandaDoc. If your documents are SAFTs, token warrants, advisor agreements, and subscription paperwork, where the terms are already fixed and what you need is private, verifiable signing, DocSign is the closer fit and it is free.

Common questions

Does DocSign do proposals or quotes?

No. It is a signing tool, not a proposal builder. There are no pricing tables, quote configuration, or content library. If you need those, PandaDoc is the right product and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

Can I reuse the same agreement repeatedly?

Yes. Reusable templates with defined signer roles are supported, so a document you send often is set up once and then reused.

Does DocSign collect payment alongside a signature?

No. PandaDoc does that, DocSign does not.

What happens to a document after everyone has signed?

You get a signed PDF with a certificate page appended and a tamper-evident audit trail behind it. In sovereign mode the signed copy is emailed to you and is not retained on the server at all.

How do I get started?

Open DocSign with your Cryptool account and send a document.
